About this race
Runners, take your marks, it’s time to show what you’re made of! The 2nd Annual Running of the Bulls Trail Race returns as part of Big Sky’s Biggest Week. This scenic trail race winds through the heart of Big Sky along dirt paths and single-track terrain. In partnership with the Big Sky Community Organization, all routes traverse BSCO’s dynamic trail system, offering sweeping views and varied terrain.
Whether you’re pushing for a personal record or running for fun with friends, there’s a race for every competitor. Choose from a 21K, 11K, or 5K Relay for teams of three.
The event takes place Sunday, July 12 at the Big Sky Events Arena, the central hub for packet pickup, the start and finish lines, and post-race celebrations featuring sponsor activations, food trucks and the awards presentation.

Running
Trail 11K
Run through the heart of Big Sky starting in Town Center and looping through Uplands and Hummocks on winding single track with spectacular views of Big Sky! You will climb close to 600 vertical feet! YOU ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY BEAR SPRAY.
Trail 21K
Run from Big Sky Arena towards Ousel Falls, loop through Spanish Peaks and back to the Arena. This race gives you access to private trails! Stunning views of Lone Peak, Pioneer Mountain, and Gallatin National Forest. You will climb close to 2100 vertical feet and run just close to 15 miles, slightly longer than a 21K. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY BEAR SPRAY.
Trail 5K Relay (team of 3 people)
Find your team of three and see what strength in numbers can do! Have your group register together. adding all registrants to the same team. The cost of the relay is $75 or $25 per runner. You will each run 3.1 miles consecutively through Uplands/ Hummocks trails and have a combined total time. Each of you will gain close to 500 vertical feet! YOU ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY BEAR SPRAY.
