Norwegian Foot March 30K Ruck
Ruck 'N' Run®, in collaboration with Missouri State University ROTC, and with official approval from the Norwegian Embassy (Office of the Defense Attaché), has officially added the Norwegian Foot March (NFM) 30K to our annual event. This is a ruck only event—no exercise stations. All ruckers will start at the same time. Since the NFM takes more time to complete, you will miss our customary closing ceremony. You MUST check in at the MSU ROTC tent for pre-weigh and verify bib, rank, and email. Otherwise you are a NO-GO/ineligible. ***NFM certificate will be emailed to the email address you provide approximately 1 month after the event. They are not mailed. If you do not see the certificate in your inbox, check your spam folder.*** Official requirements at: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1c2zWv24XUwauhvgiU0Dw3NrGBMZwtiYP/view?usp=sharing HISTORY: First held in 1915 as a test of marching endurance for soldiers in the Norwegian Military. A strategic goal was to be able to move larger units of troops over a great distance swiftly and in a manner that enabled them to efficiently be combat-ready even after the march by carrying their rucksack /weaponry of 11 kg. The goal today is to stimulate the general interest of marching over extended distances amongst military and civilian personnel. Guidelines: Test: The test consists of a 30km/18.6mile march (march/run) with rucksack containing 11kg (24 lbs). There is no requirement to carry your rifle. Attire: Approved military uniform. Field uniform/work uniform and military grade boots. The uniform must be within regulation during the march. Civilian events and where civilians partake in a military setting, civilian clothing is allowed i.e., long trousers and boots. No tennis shoes, sneakers, running shoes (of any height). Boots. Rucksack with content must weigh in at minimum 11 kg/24 lbs at both start and finish line. This is dry weight. Rucksack of military grade. Civilian participants can use a civilian version of rucksack. Be advised: No weapon requirement, whatsoever. There are very specific requirements for the NFM. Review them at https://www.norway.no/contentassets/97a0b1fe76d244ffa647955676546d3f/nfm-guidelines-2025-v1.7.pdf All NFM registrants are considered Competitors. During registration, select Competitor (not Participant). ***No exercise stations for NFM registrants.*** ***NFM certificate will be emailed to the email address you provide approximately 1 month after the event. They are not mailed. If you do not see the certificate in your inbox, check your spam folder.*** Required Time Limits to Qualify: (must finish before the following max allowable time.)
