We’re opening up new opportunities for bicyclists and pedestrians—and you’re invited to be among the first to experience it!
Join the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Transurban, operator of the 495 Express Lanes, for a free family-friendly event celebrating the opening of the new 495 Express Lanes Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail in McLean, VA.
Why 4.95?
The distance is a nod to I-495 and the event celebrates the opening of the new shared-use trail that runs parallel to I-495 and the 495 Express Lanes. The path is part of the 495 NEXT project, which added 2.5 miles of new Express Lanes from Tysons to near the Maryland border in November 2025, delivering a more reliable option for Beltway travelers while creating new community connections for walking and biking.
