Anniston Youth Runner Program
About this race
The Anniston Youth Runners Club is a FREE program. It is dedicated to fostering a love for running among the youth of Anniston. Our mission is to encourage physical fitness, personal growth, and a sense of community through the sport of running. Open to children and teenagers of all skill levels, the club offers a supportive and fun environment where young runners can develop their abilities, set personal goals, and build lifelong healthy habits.
Our Monthly Mileage Program begins in January and runs through to November. The ARC Youth Runners Program will meet weekly starting in March and ending in July with skill-building sessions, and team-building activities. Additionally, we participate in local and regional races, including the Canyon Climb 1 mile and Woodstock 1K or 5K, allowing our members to test their skills in a competitive yet encouraging atmosphere. Beyond running, the Anniston Youth Runners Club emphasizes the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. We strive to instill values that will benefit our members both on and off the track. From celebrating individual achievements to fostering friendships, our club is about creating a positive and motivating community for young runners.
Whether your child is a budding athlete or simply looking for a fun way to stay active, the Anniston Youth Runners Club welcomes everyone with open arms. Join us on this exciting journey towards fitness, friendship, and fun! This is a great first introduction to kids up to 11 years old who have never run before. 12-year-olds are welcome to join and train as they transition from the Woodstock 1K to the Woodstock 5K.
Registration opens in December 2025.
T-shirts have been donated this year from a kind sponsor. They will be distributed to those that participate in the program by attending practice or submitting miles.

Monthly Miles Program
To join the AYRC Mileage Program, report monthly mileage at the end of each month to record your child’s miles for that month. Please get your miles in by 7th of the next month. The submission form is closed PROMPTLY at the end of the 7th day. Miles will only be accepted by adding them to the link provided. As long as your child is a registered member of the Anniston Youth Runners Club and miles are reported EVERY month, they count. If you miss reporting miles for a month there will be an opportunity the following month to add those miles in with the current month's miles. If you miss more than two months, you will have to email a program director to have the missed miles added. If you miss more than three months, you will be removed from the mileage challenge. Please don't make this a habit; report each month. What miles count?: Walking, Running, Treadmill and Elliptical. Basically any miles achieved during a session with running/walking being the main purpose will be counted toward the mileage program totals. Running/walking as a byproduct of another activity such as basketball, soccer, football, baseball, shopping, use of counting daily steps do not count. Swimming or cycling do not count. There are plenty of free apps that can be used to keep track of miles: Nike Run Club, Strava, Apple Fitness, etc. Youth Runners will work towards: Signing up and completing three races during their active membership year: two races (can be a dash run, 1K, or 5K) of your choice, as well as the Kidstock 1K or Woodstock 5K. Proof of race participation MUST be provided for the races of choice. Members who report EVERY month and meet the mileage goal they choose will be awarded the following: 1. D400 (400M Daily Dash, total 90 miles) intended for children 5 and under: Gift Card/Medal 2. HALF MAD (half a mile a day, total 182.5 miles): Gift Card/Medal 3. MAD (mile a day, total 365 miles): Gift Card/Medal 4. MADx2 (mile a day x2, total 730 miles): Gift Card/Medal
