Presented by PRS Running Club, this iconic race returns for its 12th year, bringing speed, competition, and pure mile magic back to Jacksonville.
The Big Chief Mile has a proven legacy of fast times and unforgettable finishes:
💨 2014 crowned a blazing 4:05.2 men’s champion
👟 2015 delivered the fastest women’s mile in event history at 4:53.4
🏁 2016 saw absolute chaos up front — the top 5 men separated by less than 5 seconds, while the top 3 women all dipped under 5:03
Now in 2026, we return to the Fishweir Brewing venue with a fast, spectator-friendly course built for bold racing and new records. Flat, quick, and electric — this is a mile designed to fly.
To keep racing tight and competitive, the event will feature multiple waves, allowing athletes to select the wave that fits their ability and racing goals. Whether you’re chasing a PR, lining up for your first mile, or just here for the vibes, there’s a place for you.

This is a 2 Lap, 5K event.
Men's Open Division
This race is a chip timed 1 Mile run open to any male running a 6:00 or slower mile. It is a 2 Lap event.
Men's Clydesdale Division
This race is a chip timed 1 Mile run open to any male weighing 200 pounds or greater. The Clydesdale Division will be run with the Men's Open Division. It is a 2 Lap event.
Women's Open Division
This race is a chip timed 1 mile run open to any female running a 6:30 or slower mile. It is a 2 Lap event.
Women's Athena Division
This race is a chip timed 1 Mile run open to any female weighing 165 pounds or greater. The Clydesdale Division will be run with the Women's Open Division. It is a 2 Lap event.
Kid's Division (Ages 13 & Under)
This race is a chip timed 1 mile run open to anyone ages 15 or under as of the day of the race. It is a 2 Lap event.
Kid's Division (Ages 14 to 18)
Open to ages 14-18. It is a 2 Lap event.
Men's Championship Division
This race is a chip timed 1 Mile run open to any male running a 5:59 or faster mile. It is a 2 Lap event.
Women's Championship Division
This race is a chip timed 1 mile run open to any female running a 6:30 or faster mile. It is a 2 Lap event.
Chug Relay
This is a 4 person drinking relay event. Each participant will run one lap and then CHUG the provided beverage :-)
