About the Event
The Big Horse 5k hosted by Gut Check Fitness is part trail and mud run with a healthy dose of Mother Nature’s obstacles mixed in for fun. You’ll also find some hills, hollers, streams, ponds and lots of HIGH-FIVES. Everyone can do it as long as you have the drive and determination to keep going, not quit and in the words of Joe Dirt, “keep on keepin’ on.“ Be sure to grab your family, friends, coworkers and come join us for one of the most enjoyable events in Central Illinois on the amazing Big Horse Vineyards.

Ready to test your limits? The Big Horse Vineyards 5K brings a highly anticipated 5K, 1.6K to Lewistown on August 30, 2026. Expect a fantastic route right in the heart of Illinois.
Races Offered
Trail running
5K - Competitive Heat (Individuals)
This heat is for all of you competitive athletes out there that really want to get after it and race the course! Only sign up for this heat if you think you have what it takes to be King or Queen of the all terrain. This heat will be timed and we have awards for the top 3. *If you are between the ages of 9-12 - we ask that you have a parent/guardian run with you the entire time, due to the terrain.
5K - Competitive Heat (Teams)
This heat is for all of you athletes out there that really want to have fun and race the course as a team! Teams need to be at least 3 or more. **If you are between the ages of 9-12 - we ask that you have a parent/guardian run with you the entire time, due to the terrain.
5K - Fun Run (Individuals and Teams)
This heat is for all of you athletes and weekend warriors out there that are more interested in having fun along the way than reaching the podium. Teams need to be at least 3 or more. This heat is NOT timed and we do not have awards for this category. *If you are between the ages of 9-12 - we ask that you have a parent/guardian run with you the entire time, due to the terrain.
Running
Beer Mile (Individual)
You will drink a beer and run 400 meters x 4 rounds to make up the mile course. Must be 21 to participate. There is an Individual category and a Team category. (Teams must have 2-4 members)
