THE 28TH ANNUAL RACE FOR CHARITY!
Saturday, August 1st 2026
The 33-Mile and 18-Mile Courses include the McPhee Overlook Trail, an epic fun flowing singletrack that hugs the cliffs above McPhee Reservoir with spectacular views of the lake. The 15-Mile Course is a great intro to Boggy Draw.
Racers can choose from a variety of challenges based on their speed, fitness and technical ability. Whether you are up for the 33-mile challenge, interested in any of the traditional fast paced x-country classes or just have a personal goal to finish at your own pace, there is an option for you.
Every category offers an unbeatable experience on fast and flowing singletrack. The terrain is ideally suited for high speeds and easy passing. The routes undulate through ponderosa pines and up and over canyons through aspen groves.
While this is a grass-roots hometown event there is no shortage of stiff competition. In past years you would have lined up next to John Tomac, Travis Brown, Ashley Carelock and a host of other elite athletes that come to train in the Colorado altitude.
Start and Finish line is in center of town at Flanders Park (4th Street & Central) for the 18-Mile and 33-Mile.
We took the big hill climb out of the 15-Mile GOOSE race (easy-to-moderate) which starts at the Boggy Draw Parking Lot, and ending up in the Town of Dolores. We will offer shuttles back up to retrieve your vehicles.
New since 2024: Adding a 65+ age category to all races! And we are adding a family friendly fun ride, called the "Easy Breezy" that takes you on a short 3-mile ride along the Dolores River Trail, great for families and friends that aren't quite ready for 15+ miles in the forest, or are wishing for something quick and simple to do while waiting for their racer to complete.
New since 2025: Added an Adaptive Racer Category to our 15-mile Goose Race! The Forest Service and SWCCA worked hard to make the Goose Course friendly to those who use adaptive bikes to race, with wider trails, easier flow and specially designed cattle guards crossings. Telluride Adaptive Sports worked with us and an adaptive crew on our inaugural run in 2025 giving us insights and ways to make the race safe yet still exciting.
We work with the local Sheriff's Office and Course Marshals to guide you up and around the Boggy Draw Trail System once the race starts. Courses are flagged, and you will follow the flag color of your racing bib.
We will have a beer garden, a race emcee, some retail and food vendors, and music through the morning and afternoon. Awards will begin around noon, depending on when we have most of 1st/2nd/3rd place racers in.
Race is chip-timed by Rocky Mountain Timing.
We are not anticipating cancelling the race for any reason (we raced even during the COVID restrictions of 2020), but if we do, we will refund the entire amount of the entry fee. But we're not cancelling!
