All Central Virginia 9th - 12th grade throwers and coaches, get ready to elevate your game! We are thrilled to announce the inaugural FREE Central Virginia Shot Put & Discus Throws Clinic. Whether you are a beginner looking to grasp the fundamentals or an experienced athlete chasing a new personal best, this completely free clinic is designed to help you master your craft, build explosive power, and unlock your true potential in the circle.
As Henry David Thoreau once said, "What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." This day is all about who you will become as an athlete and a competitor!

- Time: 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Check-in & Welcome starts at 9:30 AM!)
- Where: Manchester High School Track and Field Throws Area
- Cost: 100% FREE!
- Eligible Participants: Current 9th - 12th Grade High School Students & Coaches
⚡ What to Expect
This clinic is a jam-packed, comprehensive day of hands-on learning led by some of the finest throws minds in the region. We will dive deep into everything from dynamic flexibility and general power position principles to the highly technical mechanics of the glide, the spin, and the discus release.
You’ll get an elite breakdown of the sport, actionable drills you can take home for the season, an open-throws session with real-time feedback, and an exclusive presentation from =PR= Run & Walk to make sure you are properly equipped for success!

Clinic Schedule: • 9:30 am-10:00 am - Welcome • 10:00 am- 10:20 am - Warm up Session (Dynamic Flexibility) • 10:25 am – 10:50 am - Teaching/Training Session 1 (Sticks, General Power Position Principles) • 10:55 am-11:20 am - Teaching/Training Session 2 (General Spin Principles for Shot Put) • 11:25 am -11:50 am - Teaching/Training Session 3 (General Glide Shot Put Principles) • 11:55 am-12:30 pm - Teaching/Training Session 4 (Assortment of Drills for Power Position, hurdle drill, Jump-To’s and more...) • 12:30 pm-1:00 pm-Lunch Break • 1:00 pm-1:20 pm - PR Run & Walk Footwear Presentation • 1:20-1:30 pm - Warm Up Session • 1:35-1:50 pm - Teaching/Training Session 5 (Discus Grip and Release) • 1:55 pm-2:20 pm - Teaching/Training Session 6 (Discus Power Position) • 2:25 pm-2:55 pm - Teaching/Training Session 7 (General Discus Spin Principles) • 3:00 pm-3:30 pm - Open Throws, Questions and Answers with the Coaches • 3:30 pm-3:40 pm -- Closure Thank you and have a GREAT SEASON!
