About this race

The Rust Buster is back for its 5th year and will be ready to help you work out that rusty classic technique and stretch your lungs with our 10KM event. Come to prepare for the race season or come to have a good time looping through the Chief Joseph Trails located on USDA Forest Service lands with old and new friends.  In 2026, we are no longer offering the 3KM race, but please check out the free youth clinics offered in February if you have kids interested in getting into the sport. 

IMPORTANT 10K INFORMATION:

  • The race is capped at 70 participants total. Sign up soon!
  • The trails will be open to recreationalists during the event. Please be courteous and share the trail. 
  • This race is timed using "old fashioned" timing technology. Thanks for your patience in advance.
  • Carpool. It's cool. It's fun. And we have limited parking. There is NO PARKING on HWY 43.

*Chief Joseph Trails are located near Lost Trail Pass at the MT/ID border and near Lost Trail Ski Area. The trails are on the north side of Hwy 43.
