About this race
Join us for the City of Franklin Trick or Trot 5K & Pumpkin Dash in historic Downtown Franklin, Virginia. Get your Halloween hustle on for the Trick or Trot 5K race. Take an un-boo-lievable run from historic downtown Franklin through the city cemetery, to the hospital and back. The 1.5 mile Pumpkin Dash is open to all ages. Families and children are encouraged! Dress in your favorite costume and walk, jog, or run in this family friendly fun race through downtown Franklin to the cemetery and back. Proceeds from this event benefit the Franklin and Southampton County communities with programs from the United Way and the Department of Parks and Recreation.

City of Franklin Trick or Trot 5K
This 3.1 mile course begins and ends on Main Street between 2nd & 3rd Avenue in historic downtown Franklin. The route continues to the Post Office, turning left onto Jackson Street, then right onto High Street. Runners continue past the old railroad tracks and make a right turn into Poplar Springs Cemetery, following the public access road behind the cemetery and back onto High Street. A quick run through a residential area brings runners to Bon Secours - Southampton Medical Center, where the course turns around at the East Pavilion Nursing Home and heads back in reverse order. The course weaves back through the opposite side of Poplar Springs Cemetery, through High Street to Jackson Street, with a finish from the Post Office back to the Start/Finish Line at Main Street. This course has mixed terrain with the majority on paved roads and portions on grass and gravel paths through the cemetery. Total elevation is 62 feet.
City of Franklin Pumpkin Dash
This 1.5 mile course begins and ends at Main Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue in historic downtown Franklin. The route continues to the Post Office, turning left onto Jackson Street, then right onto High Street. Runners continue past the old railroad tracks and make a left onto Beamon Street and a left turn into Poplar Springs Cemetery, following the public access road behind the cemetery and back onto High Street. The course then reverses back through High Street to Jackson Street, with a finish from the Post Office back to the Start/Finish Line at Main Street. This course has mixed terrain with the majority on paved roads and portions on grass and gravel paths through the cemetery. Total elevation is 36 feet.
