DIRTY 30 XL – GRAVEL vs MTB


Which bike is faster? Gravel or MTB? Take on the Dirty 30XL at Orfila Winery on either a drop-bar gravel bike or mountain bike and we will find out! This one-lap challenge delivers scenic singletrack, rugged fire roads, and relentless climbs—all wrapped into an unforgettable course through the beautiful San Pasqual area.

All the fun starts and finishes at Orfila Winery in Escondido, making the Dirty 30XL more than just a race—it’s an experience. Riders and their families can enjoy Orfila’s beautiful vineyard setting, incredible views, great food and wine, and a welcoming atmosphere before and after the ride. It’s the perfect place to celebrate your accomplishment, hang out with friends, and connect with the local cycling community.

With easy access to the trailhead, a great start/finish venue, and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the day, Orfila Winery sets the stage for an awesome Dirty 30XL experience.

Along the course, riders will find fully stocked aid stations featuring Hammer Nutrition and other great event partners to keep you fueled and moving toward the finish.

  • Diverse trail types: Expect a seamless mix of hard-packed gravel, smooth and rolling fire roads, punchy climbs, and technical singletrack — all hugging the scenic from the San Pasqual Valley.
  • Flow and challenge: The route weaves through connecting areas like Raptor Ridge and Mule Trail, offering both flowy descents and test-your-mettle climbs. Lake view trails may also be incorporated for extra elevation and epic views.
  • Distance: 37 miles
  • Elevation gain: Approx. 1,709 Elevation gain
  • Route style: One Big Lap
