For serious runners, enter this timed run to see just how fast you can run to help save animals! Prizes will be awarded to the overall adult male and female winners, first male and female in the under 12 category, as well as the overall canine. All participants will receive a participation medal.

If you aren't worried about how long it takes to walk or run this 5K, this is the spot for you! Take your time and enjoy the beautiful park with your friends and furry companion all while helping the animals at APL. All participants will receive a participation medal.
Sponsor a Compass for Kids Student
Don't want to run yourself but still want to help? Sponsor a Compass for Kids student! For $30 you can sponsor a student in District 186's Compass for Kids Program to run in the race. Afterwards you will receive a personalized thank you letter from your student! Compass for Kids is a free program for Springfield District 186 students underserved by our community. Students in grades K – 5 are referred by their schools for the program, which focuses on closing the academic and opportunity gap through academic support and enrichment activities. Visit www.compassforkids.org for additional information. APL participates in Club Compass, the after-school program and Camp Compass, the summer program. With the help of APL shelter ambassador dogs, volunteers present lessons bridging social-emotional learning with humane education. Students learn about animal care and explore feelings from a shelter pet’s point of view. Sponsorships for students will provide: - Event T-shirt - Button/badge with a picture of the shelter dog they’re walking to support - Race swag bag including humane education materials - Participation medal
