About the Event
Explore the Cap Sauers Holding Nature Preserve - the largest tract of undeveloped land in Cook County, IL. This race will cover every inch of maintained trail within the Nature Preserve. With over 1000 ft of elevation, this marathon is mountainous by Chicago standards!
The course uses the Sag Valley Trail system, covering the Yellow, Green, Blue & Tan trails. The whole course is wide horsetrail, allowing for 2-way traffic and encouragement from fellow participants.

Trail Marathon
The Marathon course will be run on the Sag Valley Trail. The entire course is wide horsetrail, with little to no technical trail running required. There will often be 2-way traffic, so you should always feel the encouragement of your fellow runners. The Marathon course is three parts: 2 circuits of the 10 mile course, and a final 10k out-and-back to the WEST aid station & back. https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/4192999816 This is a 26.2 mile marathon, not a 27 mile "marathon". The challenging part is the hills – with 1050 ft of elevation, this Marathon is ‘mountainous’ by Chicago standards. Aid will be available at the following approximate mile marks: 3, 5, 8, 10, 13, 15, 18, 20, 23. There is an aid station at each turnaround point on the course. There are porta-potties at the east and west ends of the course. NORTH: Water, Gatorade Endurance (Lemon-Lime) WEST: Water, Gatorade Endurance (Lemon-Lime), Clif Gel, Pickles, Gummi Bears, Pringles, Toilet SOUTH: Water, Gatorade Endurance (Lemon-Lime) EAST: Water, Gatorade Endurance (Lemon-Lime), Toilet

The 10 MILE course will be run on the Sag Valley Trail. The entire course is wide horsetrail, with little to no technical trail running required.
