Make a team or go solo as the temperatures start cooling off and the leaves start falling and changing color during our Fall Foliage Adventure Race in and around the stunningly beautiful and historic Jamestown Virginia where the site of the first permanent English settlement in North America. If you love being outdoors, then this is the event for you.
5-hour Race: Our 5-hour fall race is perfect for new/beginner racers or those who just don't want to go all day. We will have biking, canoe/kayak paddling and trekking with plenty of route options taking you through amazing areas of history and scenery. As usual this race will start alongside our bigger race and and consist of some smaller parts from that course. The biking in this course will be very beginner friendly, a mix of gravel and paved surfaces.
24-hour Race: This year we're taking our more seasoned racers for a full 24-hours of adventure! It will consist of multiple parks, going into the night and through to the morning again as you make your way through several conservancies and historical sites with plenty paddling, trekking and biking. If you are new to 24-hour racing, this is going to be a great course to give your first try at 24-hours due to the region not having any crazy elevation/climbs in it, and for our veterans who want to clear it all, don't worry there will be a whole lot of amazing outdoors to explore.
New to adventure racing? What is an adventure race? Simply put, Adventure Racing (AR) is orienteering (navigating with a map and compass) but via multiple modes of travel. Unlike your average 10K/5K, marathon or obstacle course race where there is a strict roped off race course to follow; with orienteering/AR you are given a map with marked checkpoints (CPs), and its up to you/your team to decide & navigate which route you think is most optimal and find as many checkpoints as you can within a time limit. The best teams will work together and help each other to not only go fast, but also efficiently, acquiring the most checkpoints wins (fastest time as tie-breaker).
Spectators are welcome to watch, hang out, take pictures, fish or just picnic in the park during this event but are NOT allowed to assist participants. This is a USARA-sanctioned race.
