About this race

Join us as we honor Arlen Finke, a retired Physical and Health Teacher and Coach at the Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD), as well as a longtime area cross-country runner.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2026 at 9:00AM at MILLENIUM PARK in DANVILLE

RACE FEATURES:

  • Scenic closed course on paved roads/pathways through Millenium Park
  • Commemorative race T-shirts (while supplies last)
  • Awards for Top Finishers
  • Free Race Photos and Finish Line Photo Contest
  • Food, fun and fellowship for a great cause!

Some of his former students and runners came up with the idea to honor him with a race in his name, and to tie it in with the 200th Anniversary Celebration of KSD recently. He and his good friend, Coach E. G. Plummer of Danville High School worked together to establish Cross Country teams at both KSD and DHS.  The goal is for the Finke 5K Run/Walk to become an annual tradition. Arlen Finke sadly passed away at a young age in January 2024 from Alzheimer's Disease.   Proceeds from the event will go to the KSD Alumni Association (KSDAA), which supports various needs such as athletic programs, equipment, uniforms and other- student related projects.

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE
