About this race
Join us for the second annual Fostering Hope 5K in Ridgeland, Mississippi! Whether you're a world-class runner or completing your very first 5K, we can't wait to cheer you on at the starting line. Every step you take helps foster hope, healing, and a brighter future for youth at Sunnybrook Children’s Home.
At Sunnybrook, our vision is simple:
Every child and youth in Mississippi will experience the advantages associated with growing up in a healthy Christian family environment.
All proceeds from this event directly support Sunnybrook’s transitional and independent living programs, helping youth transition from foster care into healthy, purpose-filled lives.
Join fellow runners on June 7, 2025 for the Fostering Hope 5K. It's a fantastic 5K, 0.4K, 6.4K featuring a flat and fast course in Ridgeland.

Running
5K Run/Walk
A manually timed 5K (3.1 miles) with awards presented for our top finishers (top 1st and 2nd male and female in each age bracket). Registrants receive a commemorative T-shirt. Register by August 22th to receive your T-shirt. Course is on paved trail/roadway surfaces. Dogs on fixed length leashes and strollers are welcomed.
Kid's 1/4 Mile Dash
A fun, untimed 1/4 mile dash for the kiddos ages 9 and under. Each participating child will receive a commemorative participation medal. Parents may purchase a commemorative race shirt for a $10 add on charge. Order shirt by August 22th.
Kid's 1/4 Mile Ride on Toy Race
It is a fun, untimed race for kids who want to bring their 6- or 12-volt ride-on toy (Peg Perego Tractor, PowerWheels Barbie Jeep, etc) on the 1/4 Mile Fun Run course. Kids aged 3-7 years. There are no prizes or awards for this event.
Virtual Runner/Walker
If you can't join us in person, consider signing up as a virtual runner/walker and you'll receive a commemorative race shirt while supplies last. Register by August 22th to receive a t-shirt. Run/walk your 5K in your own hometown on your own schedule. $30 donation (includes postage) to participate virtually.
