Join the FREE Frankenfit Lit Virtual Challenge! Begin on the Summer Solstice (June 21) and cross the finish line on National Frankenstein Day (August 30). Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus (1818 version) is the inspiration for this virtual challenge. You read the novel, race (run, walk, or bike), and write creative works.
How It Works
- Read a section of the novel of your choice.
- Run, walk, or bike a total of one of the following distances by August 30: 1.818 miles, 18.18 miles, or 181.8 miles.
- Write creative responses inspired by the reading. Creative writing may take any form, including narrative, poetry, fiction, or drama.
- Repeat this cycle until you finish the novel.
Timeline and Tracking
- Read, race, and write in that order. Complete this sequence however you wish (every other day, once a day, etc.)!
- Log your miles on RunSignUp by August 30!
- Write creative works on paper, a blog, or electronic site. Share a link with your results if you wish!

- Celebrate National Frankenstein Day on August 30, 2026!
