About this race

The Galactic Gator 5K is being hosted on September 12, 2026, at Fort Anahuac Park.

This run is benefiting the Anahuac Engineering Design Class.

Students in this class do things that others can only dream of.  Students have the opportunity to build rockets that carry a one-pound payload to an altitude of one mile, break the sound barrier, or travel at Mach 1.25.  They have attempted to reach an altitude of 50,000 ft, which was tested by the Army, at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

Students from this class have completed world firsts.  They were the first student-built rocket to be tested with FAA approval at an American airshow and the first to drag race rockets at an airshow.

This class is 95% self-funded through grants, fundraising, and event hosting.
