The Galveston Ultra Trail by Trail Racing Over Texas brings a one-of-a-kind trail running experience to the Texas coast—where the trail is pure shoreline.
This is not your typical road race and not your typical trail race.
Run, walk, or ruck along miles of open beach with distances for every level—from your first 5K to a full 50K point-to-point ultra across the island.
With the Gulf at your side, sunrise ahead, and waves guiding every step, this is one of the most unique endurance events in Texas.

The Galveston Ultra Trail 50K is a stunning point-to-point journey along the Galveston coastline, taking runners across miles of open beachfront with the Gulf of Mexico stretching to the horizon. With nothing but sand, sea breeze, and the rhythm of the waves beside you, this is one of the most unique ultramarathon experiences in Texas. The course follows the shoreline for the entire distance of Galveston Island, creating a raw and unforgettable adventure where every mile brings new coastal views and the feeling of truly running the island. Whether you're chasing a strong ultra finish or simply embracing the challenge of the Texas coast, the journey ends with a celebration at the Galveston Ultra Trail finish line at East Beach featuring Texas-size medals, live music, food trucks, and beachside festival vibes. 9-hour cuttoff.

Experience one of the most unique half marathons in Texas. The Galveston Ultra Trail Half Marathon takes you along miles of beautiful Galveston beachfront with the Gulf of Mexico as your constant backdrop. Feel the ocean breeze, chase the horizon, and enjoy the rhythm of the waves as you run the island. 8.5h cutoff. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or soaking in the coastal views, every finisher earns a Texas-size medal and event shirt before celebrating at the finish line festival with music, food trucks, and island vibes.
10k
Step up the challenge and Run the Island. The Galveston Ultra Trail 10K offers runners a longer stretch of Galveston’s beautiful beachfront with miles of open shoreline and sweeping Gulf views. This distance is perfect for runners looking to test their speed, push their endurance, or simply enjoy a memorable run along the Texas coast. The flat coastal terrain and ocean breeze create a course that’s both runnable and rewarding, making the 10K a great step up from the 5K while still approachable for a wide range of runners. After finishing, earn your event shirt and Texas-size finisher medal, then celebrate at the Galveston Ultra Trail finish line at East Beach with music, food trucks, and island vibes right on the beach. Six miles. Endless horizon. Run the Island. 8h cutoff.
5k Run/Walk
Perfect for runners and walkers of all ages! The 5K Run/Walk follows the beautiful Galveston beachfront and is great whether you want to enjoy a relaxed family walk or push the pace and race for a fast finish. Earn your event shirt and finisher medal, then celebrate at the Galveston Ultra Trail finish line at East Beach with music, food trucks, and island vibes.
5k Ruck
Take on the 5K Beach Ruck along the Galveston shoreline. March at your own pace or push the pace and race for place! Standard ruck guidelines apply: 20 lb ruck for participants under 150 lbs bodyweight and 30 lb ruck for participants over 150 lbs (not including food or water). Finishers earn an event shirt, medal, and get to enjoy the beach festival with music, food trucks, and island vibes.
50k Relay
Grab your crew and Run the Island together. The 50K Relay follows the same spectacular point-to-point beachfront course as the ultra, but gives teams the chance to experience the adventure together. Teams of 2–5 runners will tackle the island in relay format, exchanging runners approximately every 10K along the Galveston shoreline. Each leg delivers miles of open beach, ocean views, and steady Gulf breezes as your team works its way down the coast toward the finish line festival. Whether you're racing another team or simply sharing an unforgettable day on the Texas coast with friends, the 50K Relay is all about teamwork, adventure, and island miles. All participants receive an event shirt, and every team member earns a Texas-size finisher medal before celebrating together at the finish with music, food trucks, and beach festival vibes. Kids Run
Let the kids Run the Island too! The Free Kids Kilometer is a fun, short run designed just for young runners. Kids will get to experience the excitement of race day with a quick run along the beach while the crowd cheers them on. It’s all about fun, movement, and celebrating young runners in a safe and encouraging environment. After crossing the finish line, kids can enjoy the festival atmosphere with music, food trucks, and beachside fun alongside their families.
