Established in 1974, the the Governor’s Cup caters to families, recreational runners and elite athletes looking for a great way to exercise their competitive spirit and celebrate the benefits of a health lifestyle in Helena, Montana. Staged in the picturesque backdrop of the Treasure State’s capital city and its surrounding countryside, the Governor's Cup features the half marathon, 10K, 5K and mile run.

Half Marathon
The Governor’s Cup half marathon course remains in Helena for 2027, sharing the starting line with our mile, 5K and 10K events. The first three miles of the half marathon will be shared with the 10K course. From there, runners will head to South Hills Road, where spectacular views of the Helena valley await. The course will rejoin the 10K and 5K courses for a finishing kick up the walking mall. 10K
The Governor’s Cup 10K course starts in downtown Helena near the Holter Museum on Cruse Avenue and finishes on the Capital City’s historic Last Chance Gulch. The challenging course features stunning views of Mount Helena, the State Capitol and other historic sites in the Capital City.
5k

Mile Run
It's timed and it's going to be fast. Welcome to the Governor's Cup mile run, a quick course that is sure to create PRs and get people ready for the 5K or 10K later that morning. Or, folks can enjoy a nice morning jog or walk downtown with family and friends. Runners can sign up for either the 5K or 10K and add the mile run for just $10.
