Green Lake Sole 5K Run
About this race
Put on your running shoes and be ready to run your "sole" out at the Green Lake Sole 5K Run. This 5k is partnered with YouthCare. Proceeds will go towards buying shoes for Seattle youth experiencing homelessness. As you put your heart and "sole" into this race, you are also putting soles on the feet of local Seattle youth experiencing homeless. Join us on October 17th, 2026, to participate in a fun, active community event, while also helping local Seattle youth experiencing homelessness.
Race Info: 5k race/walk on October 17th, 2026, starting at 10:00 am and cutting off at 11:00 am. Check in will begin at 9:15 am and end at 9:58 am, awards will begin at 11:00 am.
Location: Basketball courts at East Green Lake Beach by the Green Lake Playfields (Google Map Link). Parking is available at the East Green Lake Beach, and if that parking is full, there are plenty of places to park around the neighborhood.
Route Info: Route begins by the Green Lake basketball courts and loops around Green Lake before turning and going around the outside of the Green Lake playfields and finishing at the basketball courts (route map below).
Race Categories: There will be male, female, and non-binary categories, and within each of those categories medals will be given to the top 3 finishers of the 1–14-year-old, 15–20-year-old, 20-40-year-old, and the 40 and older categories. Medals will also be given to the top 3 finishers in the male, female, and non-binary categories. Top 3 finishers only receive medal for overall placement, not age group placement.
Timing: Race is hand timed (no electronic/professional timing- online results will still be provided).
About Fundraiser: This race is partnered with YouthCare. YouthCare serves homeless youth ages 12-24 through four different shelters in Seattle and through job training. All dollars raised will go to YouthCare to help support and empower youth experiencing homelessness. Specifically, donations will enable youth to purchase shoes. Youth Care's mission is to end youth homelessness and to ensure that young people are valued for who they are and empowered to achieve their potential. Through entering and supporting this race, you are helping empower and support local Seattle youth experiencing homelessness.
Weather: Given that it is October in Seattle expect cold weather and likely rain.
