About this race
Come run (or walk!) for HEF's annual 5K, held in conjunction with Christmas in God's Country!
Join us in person on November 21, or join us virtually if you can't make it in person. Entry fees raise money for Hondo Education Foundation, which funds grants annually for teachers and students at Hondo ISD. Start with the race and finish with Christmas in God’s Country!
During the 2025-2026 school year, HEF awarded $39,600 in grants to Hondo ISD teachers and $46,000 to assist with Chromebook replacements for the district. For the 2026-2027 school year, HEF is projecting awarding $26,000 in grants and also hoping to fill some special requests HISD has. Your race entry fee makes it possible for us to continue funding these grants and needs, that are not funded through other channels.

This is for SPONSORING the race. Sponsorships serve as a donation to help Hondo Education Foundation with event costs, which allows us to raise more money for grants. All event sponsors get their logo / name on the back of the event shirt. *Please note, you can drop a form / check off for sponsorships if that is preferred, to avoid the processing fee, or make a donation on our website for the cost of the sponsorship.*
HEF 5K - Be Part of It - IN PERSON
Join us for the IN PERSON 5K. Your entry fee will support HEF grants at Hondo ISD. You can run, walk or crawl your way through it! Or, you can sign up, get a shirt, and not participate at all! Every entry fee helps. The race will start and finish at the courthouse square and check out Christmas in God’s Country vendors when you’re finished!
HEF 5K - Be Part of It - VIRTUAL
Can’t make it in person? That’s okay! Run or walk whenever you can! Your fee will still support HEF grants to Hondo ISD. You can run, walk or crawl your way through it! Or, you can sign up, get a shirt, and not participate at all! Every entry fee helps.
