About this race

Join the Movement and register today: The 1st Annual Hustle for Homes 5K

Get ready to hustle! Whether you're chasing a personal best or enjoying a morning stroll, help us turn miles into homes and lace up your sneakers for a cause! We are thrilled to announce the First Annual Hustle for Homes, a timed 5K run/walk dedicated to supporting Community & Home Supports (CHS).

Every step you take helps CHS provide essential housing services and stability to those in our community. Whether you're a competitive runner or a casual stroller, come out and move for a mission. Visit chsinc.org to learn more about our mission.

Event Details

  • When: Saturday, July 11th
  • Time: Race starts at 9:00 AM
  • Where: Dequindre Cut Freight Yard, Detroit

Stay for the Fun

The finish line is just the beginning! After the race, stick around to enjoy the best of Detroit’s riverfront district:

  • Relax at the  Freight Yard beer & wine garden: We’re requesting an early opening of the beer and wine garden for our participants and guests.
  • Explore Eastern Market: Take a post-race stroll through the historic market.
  • Hit the Riverfront: Enjoy a scenic walk along one of the city's most beautiful landmarks.
  • Dine Local: Refuel at one of the many excellent restaurants just steps away from the course.

Your Impact: Turning Miles into Milestones

When you participate, you aren’t just finishing a race—you’re helping neighbors in Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park cross the finish line into stable housing.

Housing is the first step, but stability is the journey:  Your contribution ensures no one has to walk that path alone. Funds raised provide more than just a roof; they provide the foundation for a fresh start. Your support directly funds:

  • Essential Documentation: Obtaining IDs, Social Security cards, and birth certificates.
  • Move-in Costs: Covering fees and deposits that often stand in the way of a new home.
  • Home & Life Essentials
    • Household Necessities: Providing items to turn a house into a home.
    • Daily Support: Funding transportation passes and school supplies.
    • Long-Term Stability: Wraparound Services: We provide counseling and support services to ensure lasting independence.
