We are honored to present a panel of some of Indiana's best runners and coaches at Three Rivers Running Company. Join us Saturday, August 1st to hear a panel discussion and participate in a Q&A with athletes Alissa (McKaig) Doehla and Mallory Weller and coach Colin Altevogt.
Mallory Weller is a 2026 graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School where she was a two-time National Champion, 6-time All-American, 6-time State Champion, and state record holder in the indoor 3200. Mallory holds PRs of 2:04 in the 800, 4:31 in the mile, 9:55 in the 3200, and 16:57 in the 5k (XC). Her 4:31 mile is a New Balance National Outdoor meet record and ranks #5 all-time US Outdoor. Beginning this fall, she will compete for the NC State Wolfpack.
Alissa (McKaig) Doehla is an elite endurance athlete, coach, and former world-ranked competitor with a distinguished career in professional running and triathlons.
From 2009 to 2015, Alissa competed as a professional distance runner, including a prestigious four-year tenure with ZAP Fitness. A two-time Team USA representative, she contributed to a bronze-medal victory at the 2011 World Cross Country Championships and competed in the 2011 World Marathon Championships. Her athletic resume includes an 8th-place finish at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials (2:31:56) and elite lifetime personal records of 15:28 for the 5,000m and 32:14 for the 10,000m.
Transitioning seamlessly into multisport racing, Alissa excelled as a professional triathlete. She achieved seven podium finishes in Ironman 70.3 competitions and earned a spot among the top 10 female triathletes globally.
Following her retirement from professional sports in 2020, Alissa settled in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she resides with her husband, Kyle, their son, Floyd, and their Great Dane, Jodeci.
Colin Altevogt is the head boys cross country coach at Carmel High School, entering his 20th season of coaching overall. The Carmel boys have won 7 of the last 14 state championships in cross country with 4 runner-up finishes in that time frame including a nine-year streak of finishing in the top two at the state meet. The Greyhounds have also won 4 state championships with 2 runner-up finishes in the track season. Colin is a teacher at Carmel High School and holds a master’s degree in secondary education. He lives in Carmel with his wife Cathleen and children, Solomon and Caroline.
Derek Leininger holds a PhD in Education and is the Principal of Arlington Elementary. Derek coached cross country and track for over 13 years including a 10-year stint as the head coach at Snider High School. Derek and his wife Gwen are the authors of the book Enduring Wisdom: Lessons from Indiana's Championship High School Cross Country Coaches. He also wrote the book Breaking Down the Wall about training 400 runners with legendary Coach Clyde Hart of Baylor University. Derek is one of the founding members of Indiana Runner, the foremost site for Indiana high school running. He lives in Fort Wayne with his wife Gwen and their two daughters, Georgia and Jane.
