Little Rooster Run
About the Event
Ridge Runners Racing proudly presents the 2nd Annual Little Rooster Kids Fun Run, 5K Trail and Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail. The event will take place on Friday, October 16, 2026 at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds and Park in Glencoe, Kentucky. Nestled between interstates I-71 and I-75, this quaint rural farming community is easily accessible from Cincinnati (30 minutes), Lexington (45 minutes), and Louisville (60 minutes). Visitors will feel as if they’ve stepped back in time as they enjoy the small town vibe Glencoe has to offer. Plan on making it a “runcation” and check out the many accommodations and attractions within minutes of the event site. The Little Rooster Kids Fun Run 1/2 mile will be offered for kids 10 & under at 5:30 PM, so plan on bringing the kids to join in the fun! A 5K trail race will follow at 6:00 PM. Walkers are welcome as this race has a generous 2 hour cut-off. The Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail starts at 8:00 PM and is a “last runner standing” event. Last year the race lasted 14 hours before Chris Emberton of Elizabethtown, KY was declared the winner after completing 28 laps (58.33 miles).

Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail
The Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra is a “last runner standing” format trail ultra. Runners traverse a 2.083 mile lap course on the half-hour until there is only one runner left, who must then complete a victory lap within the 30 minute time limit to finish and be declared Champion. The Gallatin County Fairgrounds and Park will reopen to the public on Tuesday, October 20 at 6:00 AM. If any runners are still on course the event will continue but with limited event staff. The Mini Barnyard Ultra will take off on Friday, October 17 at 8:00 PM. Headlamps are required and appropriate weather gear is recommended. Trekking poles are optional. The race will continue until only one runner remains who must complete a “victory lap” within the 30 minute time limit to be declared a finisher and ,therefore, WINNER of the Mini Barnyard Ultra. All other participants will be categorized as “DNF”, meaning DID NOT FINISH and will be memorialized on our “Wall of Shame”. Should there be only a single registrant in either the male or female category, that runner must complete the first lap within the 30 minute time limit, be in the corral on time then complete a victory lap within the 30 minute time limit to be declared the winner (they may choose to remain in the race if desired for as long as they satisfy the requirements). An awards ceremony for the winner will be held take place shortly after a winner is declared at the Pavilion located to the left of the main entrance to the fairgrounds. Only registered runners in the ultra are permitted on the course during the Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra.
