Join us to celebrate the 27th Living Journeys Summit Hike!
It's a big year and we hope you can join us on Saturday, July 25th at Crested Butte Mountain Resort Base Area in celebration of 27 years of community cancer support!
The Summit Hike is Living Journeys' largest community event and it's special seeing so many people come together in support of those facing cancer and to honor the family and friends we have lost.
Mt Crested Butte is situated in the heart of the West Elk Mountains in southwestern Colorado. At the summit of Mt Crested Butte (12,162 feet) participants will get a 360 degree view of the West Elk Mountains, the Raggeds, the Snowmass/Maroon Bells Wilderness, and the Gunnison National Forest.
From hardcore athletes to casual visitors, everyone is welcome at the 27th Summit Hike! Choose the hike that suits you:
- Hardcore: 9.9 mi round-trip hike from Mt Crested Butte base (9,350 to 12,162 ft).
- Moderate: Ride the Silver Queen chairlift to 11,340 ft, then hike 2 miles round trip to the summit.
- Casual: Enjoy the views from the chairlift, walk around top of the lift, and then return to join us for lunch.

Summit Hike
Hike to support the community members facing cancer as well as honor the loved ones we have lost at our 23rd Annual Summit Hike. Participants have the option to do the challenging 11.5 miles round-trip hike from the base area, or ride the Silver Queen chairlift, which covers 2,000 vertical feet in 15 minutes. From the top of the chairlift, participants follow a high alpine trail to the rocky peak, which is approximately 2 miles round-trip and 762 vertical feet. A chairlift ticket is included with registration, though we encourage participants to bring their Epic Pass, if they have one. This a unique, home-grown half marathon features a spectacular trail run on Mount Crested Butte, in the heart of the West Elk Mountains in southwestern Colorado. Runners start at the base area and wind their way up the mountain to the top of the Silver Queen chairlift and then back to the base area, where we will be waiting with a post-race lunch celebration. Distance - 13.2 miles Elevation Gain - 2,342’ Min Elevation - 9,380' Max Elevation - 11,470' Online registration will close 7/28 at 1pm, but in-person registration will be available at the 4-Way/Chamber of Commerce Friday from 4-6pm and also Saturday morning, starting at 7am. IN-PERSON REGISTRATIONS WELCOME!
10k
This is the inaugural year for Living Journeys 10k! The Living Journeys 10k is a scenic, single-track trail run that is a bit more approachable compared to the Living Journey’s Half Marathon with less than 1000' of elevation gain. This course follows the same single-track climb as our Half Marathon but doesn’t climb all the way to the Silver Queens lift. You will start heading downhill at the first aid station at the yellow brick road intersection and meander down trails back to the base area for a post-race lunch celebration. This run offers amazing views, beautiful wild flowers, and a great challenge for runners looking for a shorter trail run. Provisional Data Distance - 7.4 miles Elevation Gain - 990’ Min Elevation - 9,380' Max Elevation - 10,368’ Online registration will close 7/28 at 1pm, but in-person registration will be available at the 4-Way/Chamber of Commerce Friday from 4-6pm and also Saturday morning, starting at 7am.
