About the Event
Join us September 12, 2026, at 9:30 am for the 54th running of one of the oldest and most scenic races in Michigan. Early Fall is the best time of year to run or walk the perimeter of Mackinac Island, where you will enjoy sparkling water, spectacular views and historic sites!
The Island is a unique destination that can only be reached by ferry - and no motorized vehicles allowed. Step back in time to a bygone era where travel is done by foot, bicycle, carriage or horse. We're expecting over 1800 runners and walkers this year - the Mackinac Island Eight Mile is definitely a race you will never forget!

Races Offered
Running
8 MIle Run
Run (or Run/Walk) the entire 8 Mile perimeter of Mackinac Island. All participants receive a long sleeve shirt and finisher medal.
8 Mile Virtual Race
Complete the 8 Mile distance at your own convenience - any where and any time you choose. We will mail your shirt and medal out and you can post your results any time after race day. This race will is qualify as one of the Mackinac Island Trio events.
Walking
8 Mile Walk
You must walk the entire distance - no running allowed AT ANY TIME during the race. (There are age group awards in the 8 Mile Walk) Walk the perimeter of Mackinac Island. All participants receive a long sleeve shirt and finisher medal
