Magic of the Mile
About the Event
Time to lace up the shoes and head to the track with RunGR for the 2026 Magic of the Mile! We will again be back at Grand Rapids Christian's Eagle Stadium, which will be open & FREE for spectators to cheer everyone on. We have day of registration, online and onsite (cash, check, or credit card).
The Magic of the Mile will be F.A.T. timed. We will watch registrations to keep the starting line a nice field size. Please keep in mind that as race day approaches, we may need to adjust the heats and start times, depending on the number of registrants.
In 2026, RunGR is excited to offer the following participation costs.
- The Magic of the Mile is FREE for all youth participants (under the age of 18 on race day)
- The Magic of the Mile is $10 for RunGR members who register by 11:59 PM on June 14, 2026. Members should contact rungrmembership@gmail.com for the discount code. To learn about RunGR and the full membership offerings, visit www.rungr.com/
- The Magic of the Mile is $15 for adult community members (over the age of 18 on race day) who register by 11:59 PM on June 14, 2026.
- The Magic of the Mile is $20 for all adult registrants( over the age of 18 on race day) who register between June 15 and 11:59 PM on July 8, 2026.
- As in the past, all events are FREE for spectators.

Age group awards
- Participants in the open and elite heats will be competing for the State RRCA Championship overall and age group winner awards. There will be RRCA awards given to the top male and female runners overall, along with the 40-49, 50-59, and 60+ Age Groups. RRCA overall and age group awards will be handed out after the men's elite heat.
**College & high school participants, we recommend you consult with your parents, coaches, and schools to determine if you are able to accept any prizes.
How It Works
This event will be similar to a high school track meet, where the start times associated with each heat are an approximation. The emcee will alert you to when your particular heat needs to be at the starting line. Register for the heat that represents your projected finish time (see below). We will have 1 designed pacer to each open event to help you reach your goals!

-Kids 200 meter fun run! (6:00 PM)
-Kids 400 meter fun run!

-Women & Men: The No Pressure Mile
-Women: 8:00 + pace
-Men: 7:30 + pace
-Women: 7:15 to 7:59 pace
-Men: 6:30 to 7:29 pace
-Women: 6:45 to 7:14 pace
-Men: 5:30 to 6:29 pace
-Women: 5:45 to 6:44 pace
-Men: 4:45 to 5:29 pace
-Elite Women: under 5:45 pace
-Elite Men: under 4:45 pace
*The Youth Coed Mile is designed for anyone under the age of 18 who wants to participate in the Mile, but this might be one of their first times running the distance. We designed it to be less intimidating and more relaxed compared to the open heats that are slotted by specific paces. That being said, all open heats are open to any age.

Coed Youth Mile
This event is great for anyone under the age of 18 who would like to participate in the Magic of the Mile, without feeling the pressure of having to compete. This event is FREE. Participants from this event are NOT eligible for age group awards. Popsicles will be awarded to all finishers!
Women's 8:00 + Pace
For women who project their finish to be no faster than an 8:00 minute mile.
Men's 7:30 + Pace
For men who project their finish to be no faster than an 7:30 minute mile.
Women's 7:15 to 7:59 Pace
For women who project their finish to be between a 7:15 to 7:59 minute mile pace.
Men's 6:30 to 7:29 Pace
For men who project their finish to be between a 6:30 to 7:29 minute mile pace.
Women's 6:45 to 7:14 Pace
For women who project their finish to be between a 6:45 to 7:14 minute mile pace.
Men's 5:30 to 6:29 Pace
For men who project their finish to be between a 5:30 to 6:29 minute mile pace.
Women's 5:45 to 6:44 Pace
For women who project their finish to be between a 5:45 to 6:44 minute mile pace.
Men's 4:45 to 5:29
For men who project their finish to be between a 4:45 to 5:29 minute mile pace.
Elite Women's Mile (5:45 & Faster)
For women who project their finish time to be faster than a 5:45 minute mile.
