NCYMCA's Pie Run
About this race
Each year, the Newport County YMCA hosts the annual Pie Run on Thanksgiving Day. This USATF sanctioned race, originally founded in 1985 by the Newport Running Club, collects food donations for the MLK Community Center as well as raises necessary funds for the Y's Community Support Campaign. Typically, this beloved annual event draws over 2,000 walkers and runners who gather at the Newport County YMCA parking lot. This year, the Y is again offering a LIVE/IN-PERSON or VIRTUAL option, opening the event so that ALL members of our Y community can participate in a way that works for them!

Pie Run Details:
- No on site registration on day of race- REGISTER ONLINE or ON YOUR DEVICE up to 7:45am on 11/26/26
- 5 Mile race is chip timed
- 3 Mile race is NOT timed
- Race begins @ 8:30am
- Arrive for race by 7:15am if you have NOT already picked up your bib
- Arrive for race by 7:45am if you have ALREADY picked up your bib during one of the times below
- Course is dog & stroller friendly
- Parking and restrooms will be available
Donation Details:
Donations will be collected at Bib Pickup for non-perishable food donations for the MLK Center as well as coat donations for area organizations in need. The Coat Drive is presented and run by the Island Interact Leadership Club sponsored by the local Rotary Club and NCYMCA.

• The Newport County YMCA will host the 41st Annual Pie Run Thursday, November 26, 2026 • This Thanksgiving Day Race starts promptly at 8:30AM • The 5-mile USATF sanctioned road race, starts and ends in front of the Newport County YMCA in Middletown • Entrants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or gently used coat to be contributed to a local food bank • Proceeds support the Y's Community Support Campaign. • Register by 9am on Friday, NOV 1st to guarantee your Special Edition Pie Run T-shirt is available for pick up at the Y prior to the race. All effort will be made to provide size selected, but size availability is NOT guaranteed.
3 Mile Noncompetitive Run/Walk (LIVE)
• The Newport County YMCA will host the 41st Annual Pie Run Thursday, November 26, 2026 • This Thanksgiving Day Race starts promptly at 8:30AM • The 5-mile USATF sanctioned road race, starts and ends in front of the Newport County YMCA in Middletown • Entrants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or gently used coat to be contributed to a local food bank • Proceeds support the Y's Community Support Campaign. • Register by 9am on Friday, NOV 1st to guarantee your Special Edition Pie Run T-shirt is available for pick up at the Y prior to the race.
