About this race

The Oklahoma Celtic Breakaway

The Oklahoma Celtic Breakaway is more than a 5K - it’s the start of a new annual tradition in Norman built around movement, community, and purpose. Each year, runners, families, and supporters come together to celebrate wellness while lifting up causes that matter. The Breakaway supports the Oklahoma Celtic player scholarship fund and spotlights a new community initiative every season, making every mile meaningful.

This event invites participants of all ages and paces to join the Celtic family in a spirited run that blends fitness, fun, and generosity. Whether you’re racing for a personal best, jogging with friends, or walking to make an impact, every stride strengthens our community and reflects the heart of Celtic: unity, wellness, and giving back.nThe Breakaway is where tradition begins.

Oklahoma Celtic Football Club was founded in 1976 with a clear purpose: to develop young players and provide a complete pathway from recreational soccer to elite national competition. Today, the club is recognized across the region for its commitment to technical development, strong character, and a positive, family-focused environment on and off the pitch. 2026 Community Cause

This year, a percentage of proceeds will support Oklahoma Celtic alumnus Jack Coleman (Celtic 93). Jack is a deeply respected cyclist, outdoorsman, and former Duke University soccer player whose impact stretches across Norman, Oklahoma, and his college community. In December 2025, while visiting family in Norman, Jack experienced a life‑altering event that prompted his family and friends to launch a widespread support effort, including a GoFundMe campaign titled "Help Jack Recover and Support His Family" to assist with extensive medical and rehabilitation expenses. By participating in the Breakaway, runners directly contribute to Jack's recovery journey and help lift a member of our Celtic family when he needs it most.
