PLAYATHON 2021 Practice Challenge

Playathon is one of our most beloved traditions at NJYS because it’s the one time each year that all 500 NJYS musicians perform together. Since we cannot perform a massive concert at The Mills at Jersey Gardens due to the pandemic, we will celebrate virtually on March 21, 2021 instead! There are two ways to support Playathon this year: FUNDRAISE WITH US Playathon is our largest fundraiser, raising over $90,000! We rely on each musician to fundraise at least $295 to help meet this goal. Now more than ever we are trying not to raise tuition to keep NJYS accessible to families. But NJYS tuition only covers about 75% of the cost of the program. Help us fundraise and win prizes! We will have prizes for the top fundraiser and the ensemble with the highest percentage of participation. The deadline for both prizes is March 19 at 5PM. PRACTICE CHALLENGE The orchestra is better when we all work together! This year we're asking all NJYS musicians to log their practice minutes to help unlock a grant to support our new scholarship program! Our goal is to log 450,000 minutes. That means that each musician needs to log 1,050 minutes (30 minutes x 5 days/week x 7 weeks) for practice completed from February 1 through March 19. We've extended the deadline to log minutes to April 15. Thank you to Peapack Private and Susan and Lloyd Peterson for providing the challenge grant.
