Join us on Saturday, October 10, 2026, for the 7th Annual Power of Horses 5K Run 2 Mile Walk, benefiting Legacy Equine Center & Sanctuary. Set against the scenic backdrop of Ashley Reservoir and the Holyoke Elks, this inspiring event brings together runners, walkers, families, and supporters for a day of community, compassion, and fun.
Every registration helps support Legacy Equine Center & Sanctuary's mission of providing therapeutic equine programs that enrich the lives of children, adults, veterans, and individuals with special needs, while also providing lifelong sanctuary for horses in need.
Whether you're racing for a personal best, enjoying a walk with family and friends, or participating to support an incredible cause, you'll be making a meaningful difference with every step.

Course Description The Power of Horses 5K takes place on one of Western Massachusetts' most scenic running routes—the beautiful Ashley Reservoir in Holyoke. This picturesque 5K course follows a wide, well-maintained crushed stone and hard-packed dirt path that winds through peaceful woodlands and around the sparkling waters of the reservoir. With its mostly flat terrain and gentle elevation changes, the course is ideal for runners and walkers of all ability levels. Along the route, participants will cross several scenic causeways that offer breathtaking views of the water and surrounding landscape. Keep an eye out for the abundant wildlife that calls the reservoir home, including great blue herons, ducks, geese, turtles, and other native birds. Towering hemlocks, quiet forests, and tranquil ponds create a peaceful backdrop that makes every mile enjoyable. Whether you're racing for a personal best, enjoying a leisurely walk, or simply taking in the natural beauty of the Ashley Reservoir, this course offers a memorable experience from start to finish. This peaceful route follows the same wide, well-maintained crushed stone and hard-packed dirt paths that make the reservoir one of Western Massachusetts' favorite outdoor destinations. Perfect for families, friends, and walkers of all ages and abilities, the course meanders through tranquil woodlands while offering stunning views of the reservoir's sparkling waters. Along the way, you'll cross picturesque causeways and have the opportunity to spot local wildlife, including great blue herons, ducks, geese, turtles, and a variety of native birds. Whether you're walking in support of the Legacy Equine Center & Sanctuary, enjoying time with loved ones, or simply taking in the beauty of nature, the 2 Mile Walk is a wonderful way to be part of this special event.
