Rainier to Ruston
About this race
Who doesn’t love cramming into a vehicle in the wee early morning hours with running gear, snacks, and your favorite people — all while knowing the van is only going to get more rancid as the day goes on?
Adventure awaits as your team piles into the vehicle like clowns at the circus, chasing miles, laughs, and the unforgettable chaos that only a relay can deliver.
Teams of 2, 3, 4, or 6 runners will compete for the coveted Rainier to Ruston spikes, awarded across multiple categories. And honestly? Everyone’s a winner here. Why? Because the finish line delivers exactly what you’ve earned: a craft beer garden, finish-line food, and a front-row view of one of the most iconic backdrops in the Pacific Northwest.
Look up and take in the stunner of Mount Rainier. Grab your victory photo at the famous bell stand with that mountain framed perfectly behind you. Then feel free to sprawl out, put your feet up, and rehash the stories of the epic relay that started near the base of Mount Rainier and finished on the cool, grassy waterfront in Ruston.

TEAM Registration
Teams of 2, 3, 4, or 6 runners will take on the 52-ish miles from the base of Mount Rainier at Fairfax to the waterfront of Tacoma at Ruston Way. 12 legs of running are divided up between team members and run in any order you see fit for your roster! Team captains will pay for the entry and invite members to complete their registrations. We do not help get funds from your other runners, so be sure you are up for the task! This is a day of fun! Crazy team names. Costumes are optional but very much loved. Your crew will await at the finish line with food and a beer garden. Teams provide reasonable-sized vehicles as the support crew. It's a day to remember!
Rainier to Ruston SOLO
You MUST get the permission of the Race Director prior to registering. While some run with teams, you are INSANE to accept the SOLO challenge, which you acknowledge is SELF-SUPPORTED. The event is a relay, so you will treat this run as a one-man relay with a crew supporting you along the 52 miles at each team exchange. There is no water, no aid, no whining as you run from the base of Mount Rainier at Fairfax to the waterfront of Tacoma at Ruston Way. Teams provide reasonable-sized vehicles as the support crew. It's a day to remember! You must email the race director for permission to run solo with your running resume. This is not for the inexperienced runner to conquer, but it is fun to be among all the relay runners!
