About this race
The Rockford Fire Department welcomes you to participate in the 22nd Annual Rockford Fire Department 911 - 3K Run/Walk. Join the fun and challenge yourself, family, or friends at this incredible event.
This event was formed to bring fire prevention and emergency medical education to our community. The numbers 9-1-1 are an iconic symbol of emergency services across the nation. It also holds special significance following the events of September 11, 2001. We honor the memory of that day with the race's start time 9:11am.
The Rockford Fire Department utilizes many training aids to provide fire and medical education to our community. Each year, we have direct contact with over 60,000 people, and many more through social media and public service announcements. Proceeds from this race are used to educate our community, from toddlers to senior citizens, in fire prevention, safety, and community risk reduction. The proceeds from this race will be used to purchase training aids and educational handouts to help us in our community education efforts.
In addition to fire safety education, the proceeds of this event will also be used to sponsor a camper to attend "Camp I Am Me", a burn survivor camp put on by the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance. The IFSA hosts this special and unforgettable camping experience every summer for young children who have sustained burns, providing them with a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere to help build their self-confidence and self-esteem.

Runners will receive a finisher medal, a race bib, and a T-shirt (shirts are only guaranteed to those who register on or before May 17th).

USATF certified course and chip timing provided by Racing Expectations.
Following the race there will be a free Kids Fun Run for children ages 8 and under (details on the event page).
Packet pick-up and late registration will be held at Fleet Feet Sports Rockford (1653 N. Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL) on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
There will be no same day registration this year. Registration closes on June 5 at 6 p.m.

Packet pick-up and late registration will be held at Fleet Feet Sports Rockford (1653 N. Alpine Rd., Rockford, IL) Friday, May 31, 2019 from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Chip timing, unique race tee, FINISHER MEDALS for ALL participants, and the First Responder (911, Police, Fire and Military) Challenge! All racers will receive a blended fabric race shirt (Shirts only guaranteed with registration through May 17th). Overall awards for top male and female finishers and masters; age group awards for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in these categories: 8 & under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+ First Responders Challenge: Awards for the top Male and Female First Responder Finishers! Post-race snacks Following the race there will be a Kids Fun Run for children ages 8 and under: Kid's Fun Run - 8 & Under (Free) - A Parent must sign waiver - 1/4 mile distance - Finisher Medals to all participants - Kid's Run to follow 3K Run - This run is reserved for children of those participating in the 3K. The race will start behind Target and proceed through the Midway Village walking path. Free parking will be available at Target 6560 E State Street, Rockford, IL 61108 All registration fees include new chip timing, updated race tee, finisher medals for everyone and registration processing. Rockford Road Runners discount, Active/Retired First Responder discount, and kid friendly pricing. Fees for late registration and day of registration is $38 or $13 for children 12 and under. Day of registration at the race site from 7:30 am to 8:45 am. *Please no dogs, strollers, roller blades, skateboards or bicycles. *No discounts during day of registration
