About this race
Join us on Sunday, October 4, for a Halloween themed 5K run or walk beginning at Koch park and winding through the Marolt foot path and open space with your furry friends, or without! This is a timed race with cash prizes for top 3 female and male finishers. All net proceeds benefit the Friend of the Aspen Animal Shelter. Please have your pets come in costume! There will be prizes for best costumes, raffle prizes, food trucks.

Welcome to the Rubey Rescue Run—a dog-friendly mountain challenge for a great cause! This 5K uphill race climbs 1,700 vertical feet along Buttermilk’s summer road, starting at the base near Buttermilk Mountain Lodge (formerly known as Bumps) and finishing at the iconic Cliff House with panoramic views of the Maroon Bells. Whether you're running solo or with your pup, this high-altitude adventure supports a feel-good mission with all proceeds supporting the Aspen Animal Shelter. Prizes will be awarded at the top with panoramic views of ….. Race Day Details: Saturday, October 11, 2025 Pick-up packet- 7:15 am-8:00 am Race begins: 8:30 am Buttermilk Ski Area, 38700 CO-82, Aspen, CO 81611 3.1 miles, 1,700 feet of elevation gain Prizes awarded at 10:00 am on the Cliffhouse deck Water stations for both dogs and humans will be located at mile 1, mile 2.2 and at the Cliff House. Prizes for the top 3 female and male adult finishers, and first place prize for top youth (16 and under). PLEASE remember to bring your own water bottle. We will provide dog bowls at the aid stations.
