Run for Freedom Obstacle 5K

Restoration House Ministries’ Run for Freedom 5K (formerly 1000 Strong Overcoming Obstacles 5k) is more than just a race. It’s an open invitation for you to experience the restoration and victory the residents experience at our residential program every day. It’s an opportunity to triumph over your fears, cheer on your community, impact eternity, and get really, REALLY muddy. 

This entry-level, tough-mudder style trail race features over 10 popup and permanent obstacle structures at Patriot Park in Victoria, Tx.
Follow this link for a printable map & reminders. Path is accessible by foot year-round and is mowed starting in February.

All proceeds stay local to fund the ministries of Restoration House Ministries, supporting young women & young fathers in overcoming their obstacles of trauma, abuse and addictions and helping put the homeless in our community on a path to restoration.

The Finish Line area is open to the community and includes health & wellness vendors, food trucks, and more.

Early Check-In

Sleep in and skip the lines on race day! Come see us at Early Packet Pick Up (bib, wristband, tshirt) for racers at Restoration House Ministries Gleanings Resale Shop (1204 N. Moody) the night before on Friday from 5pm-7pm and enjoy an additional 10% off everything in the store.

Awards

The first 3 finishers in adults (20yr+) and youth (<20yr) racing in each category (5k, Obstacle 5k) will be awarded and recognized at closing ceremonies.

Obstacles

There about 10: 4 permanent, 3 mud pits, 1 cold plunge, and 2-3 community popup obstacles, described on our race facebook page. If you register for the obstacle 5k category, you'll receive a paper wristband at check-in. You can skip any obstacle for 20 burpees and still be eligible for 1st-3rd. If you can't do either, just surrender your obstacle bracelet and continue the race. 

General Tips

• Workout gloves will help you on the pressure wall and monkey bars.
• Teammates can also help you complete an obstacle.
• You can skip an obstacle for 20 burpees.
• If you can do neither, surrender your bracelet to the obstacle volunteer. You can still complete the race but just will be unable to receive an award. 
• Teams must complete the race and finish together--no one left behind.

Spectators

All are welcome to spectate and enjoy the day. Just make sure to take HWY59/Moody St to Timber/HWY 236 to access Patriot Park and bring a camp chair.

FAQs

• Skip the obstacles? Yes! You can register just to do the 5K and welcome to attempt at obstacle you like. If you register for the obstacle 5K, you can skip any obstacle for 20 burpees and still be eligible for 1st-3rd. If you can't do either, just surrender your obstacle bracelet. 

• Team Cost? Team members will pay $45 until the 5th person signs up, at which point, the first 4 will get a $5 refund and each additional team member will only pay $40.

• Team Size? Your team can be any size you want.  To be eligible for the corporate cup, teams must be 5 or more persons. 

• Team Trophy? Teams of 5 or more are eligible to win the Corporate Cup, which is given to the first obstacle team to cross the finish line TOGETHER.

• After registering? You can join a team even if you've already registered. Click the link in your confirmation email or message us.
