Run for Precious Hearts
About the Event
The Run for Precious Hearts is a community 1K and 5K created to honor loved ones affected by Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and to raise awareness for this rare and often misunderstood disease. This event is held in memory of Carli Smyth, who passed away at just 26 years old from PAH. Carli and Matt met at Pleasant Grove High School, built their lives in this city, and she is buried here — making Pleasant Grove a meaningful place for this race to come to life.
This family-friendly event welcomes runners, walkers, kids, and supporters of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply walking in solidarity, everyone is invited to take part in a morning of remembrance, connection, and community.
All net proceeds will support PAH awareness, patient advocacy, and research aimed at earlier diagnosis and better treatments for those living with pulmonary hypertension.

**Precious Hearts 1K Family Run** A gentle, family-friendly loop entirely within Cook Family Park designed for kids, strollers, and walkers of all ages. This non-competitive run is perfect for families who want to participate together, honor loved ones, and support PAH awareness in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment.
5k
**Run for Precious Hearts 5K** A scenic out-and-back course beginning and ending at Cook Family Park, taking runners along quiet sidewalks toward the Pleasant Grove Cemetery area before returning to the park finish. This 5K welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities and is a meaningful way to challenge yourself while raising awareness for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.
Kids 1K (Ages 7 & Under)
This free Kids 1K is designed for children ages 7 and under. The course stays entirely within Cook Family Park and is stroller- and parent-friendly. An adult is welcome to run or walk alongside their child. Registration is required for all participants for safety and planning purposes.
Virtual
Can’t join us in Pleasant Grove? You can still be part of Run for Precious Hearts from wherever you are. Sign up for the Virtual 5K and complete your run or walk anytime during race week, wherever you call home. Whether you run 3 miles around your neighborhood or walk with friends at a local park, you’re helping raise awareness for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and supporting patients and families affected by this disease. All proceeds and donations support PAH awareness, patient support, and research for better treatments.
