About this race
Ryan’s Ranch Run is a community-driven 5K, 10K, and Kids Mile hosted at the breathtaking Thousand Hills Ranch in Pismo Beach—Ryan Teixeira’s family ranch and the heart of his legacy. This unique event blends scenic running routes with a meaningful mission, raising funds for Central Coast Athletics Foundation (CCAF) and 17 Strong, an organization founded in Ryan’s honor to provide Victory Trips to young adults battling life-threatening illness.
Runners and walkers of all ages take on a mixed-terrain course with rolling hills and the spirit of community all around. Race day begins with the inspiring 17 Strong Victory Lap, followed by the Kids Mile and the 5K/10K races. After crossing the finish line, participants enjoy a lively festival with live music, local vendors, delicious food, raffle prizes, and family-friendly fun.
Ryan’s Ranch Run isn’t just a race—it’s a celebration of resilience, community, and giving back. Each step supports two impactful nonprofits and helps continue Ryan’s legacy of strength, joy, and living life to the fullest.

This exciting event offers a mix of trail and paved road courses, perfect for runners and walkers of all levels. Whether you're tackling the 5K, 10K, or Kids Mile, there's something for everyone, including our furry friends – dogs are welcome but must be leashed. Limited time offer age-based pricing for ages 10-17 (under 10 not recommended). Kick back after the race and enjoy life on the ranch. Fun, family friendly festival area that will have food for purchase and live music.Beer and Whisky provided for purchase by Rod & Hammer SLO Stills. Race Day Logistics: All runners must be checked in by 9:00am on August 31st. Thousand Hills Ranch Gate opens at 8:00 am. Road will close to thru traffic once the 5K/10K race starts and will open once the race ends Special Awards: The top 17 overall finishers will receive a special award. The first overall female and male finishers will be awarded a finisher trophy. Registered participants will receive a "saddle bag" filled with running goodies from our generous sponsors. "Saddle Bag" supplies limited to first 500 participants who check in for the race. Race check in (Packet Pick Up Party) will begin on Saturday August 30th at 12:00pm Rod & Hammer SLO BREW The Rock. Your "saddle bag" will include: 1 raffle ticket 1 beverage ticket of choice (Beer, Wine, Seltzer, Soda) provided by SLO Brew and Rod & Hammer SLO Stills Free ice cream coupon from Hubbalicious sweet shoppe Come for the run, stay for the fun! Kids Mile
Kids Race: Chase the Steer! Let your little ones experience the thrill of racing as they chase the 'steer' for 1 mile around the ranch. Each registered Kids racer will receive a free t-shirt and kids meal with their race entry. The Kids Mile is open to entering kids 8th grade and under. Strollers are allowed and Parents welcome to stroll with their kids. Please note that all kids racing must be registered for the mile race and complete the mile in under 20 minutes. Special Awards: The top 17 overall finishers will receive a special award. Every registered participant will receive the following from our generous sponsors: (Limited to first 150 kids) Free Kids T-shirt Free ice cream coupon from Hubbalicious sweet shoppe Free kids meal after the race Race Day Logistics: All Kids Mile runners must be checked in by 9:00 am on August 31st.
