About this race
The Civil Rights Race Series will be hosting the Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Relay Race and Bike Ride to commemorate the 1965 world renowned march led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The race will start in Selma, Alabama and end at the state capitol in Montgomery, Alabama.
*Please read the 2026 Race Information Packet before registering for this event.
- The relay and bike ride will start at 6:30 am.
- There will be a 12 hour completion time strictly enforced.

Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Relay
This race will start at 101 Broad Street in Selma and end at the state capitol in Montgomery. *Please note that t-shirts and partner medals are not guaranteed after Sunday, November 27, 2022.
Virtual Relay
The Virtual Relay and Bike Ride will give runners/walkers and cyclists who cannot make it to the event for whatever reason the opportunity to participate. Runners/Walkers can choose the legs they would like to run and submit their time in their tracker through Run Sign Up. Runners/Walkers may also choose to complete the entire 51 miles. Mileage can be completed over a period of time and not all at once. Virtual participants will have until Sunday, April 30, 2023 to complete the virtual and to submit their time for the race through Run Sign Up. Race goodie bags will be mailed out the week of the event for all virtual participants. *Please note that goodie bags for virtual participants will not be mailed out until the week of March, 12th, 2023. **Please note that t-shirts and partner medals are not guaranteed after Sunday, November 27, 2022. ***Please note that virtual participants do not qualify for awards.
Virtual Bike Ride
The Virtual Relay and Bike Ride will give runners/walkers and cyclists who cannot make it to the event for whatever reason the opportunity to participate. Virtual cyclists will can complete part of the miles or all of the 51 miles. Mileage can be completed over a period of time and not all at once. Virtual participants will have until Sunday, April 30, 2023 to complete the event and to submit their time for the race through Run Sign Up. Cycling
Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Bike Ride
This race will start at 101 Broad Street in Selma, AL and end at the state capitol in Montgomery. The participant will be solely responsible for transport of themselves and their bike to the start of the race. *Please note that t-shirts and the partner medal are not guaranteed after Sunday, November 27, 2022.
Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Bike Ride with Transportation
This race will start at 101 Broad Street in Selma, AL and end at the state capitol in Montgomery. Transportation will be provided for the Cyclist and their bike to the start point only. Bikes must be available for storage on Friday, March 17th between 5:00pm and 8:00 pm. Bikes and Participants will be transported to the start of the race on Saturday, March 18th. More details will be sent out to Cyclists with Transport at a later date. *Please note that t-shirts and the partner medal are not guaranteed after Sunday, November 27, 2022.
