About this race
This late-season event attracts casual and elite canoe, kayak, SUP, and surf-ski paddlers. Enjoy the first touch of fall with a cheerful end of season paddling event!
The canal course follows the lush, gently flowing Seneca-Cayuga canal, which is about 40 yards wide. Experienced paddlers may opt for a challenging open water course on Seneca Lake instead of the canal course.

Flatwater Marathon Canal Regatta
The standard flatwater course will begin at the Seneca Yacht Club and turn around a buoy at the Seneca-Waterloo KOA. The course follows the lush, gently flowing Seneca-Cayuga canal, which is about 40 yards wide. Online registration ends at 8pm 10/2. Register in person from 9am to 10am on race day.
Open Water Challenge
This open water course will be a triangle in the north end of Seneca Lake with the start / finish at the Seneca Yacht Club. The waves can be substantial, and no one should participate who has not paddled in open water conditions. Only surfskis, kayaks, and oc1s and oc2s may compete in this event. No open canoes. Open canoes should compete in the flatwater marathon. Online registration ends at 8pm the night before the race. Register in person from 9am to 10am on race day.
