Pedaling

This is our core weekly guided ride. Participants will be grouped by skill level for a ride catered to what they want to learn most. Actual riding distance varies by ability. Terrain will flat to gently rolling, although more advanced groups may explore tougher trails and features.

Striders

Striders is our parent-child level for our not-yet-pedaling riders. Parent or Guardian is expected to be with their rider for the entire duration of our sessions. This level involves lots of games and places an emphasis on getting comfortable on the bike.

Adult Basic Skills Clinic (June)

New for 2023, STF will offer a 3 session (June 12, 19, & 26) basic skills clinic for adults during the youth sessions. The clinic will be led by a BICP Level 1 Coach and cover biking fundamentals, riding form, braking, cornering and roll downs. No mountain biking experience necessary, but participants should know how to ride a bike on pavement. Bikes should be appropriate for trail riding (no road bikes) and helmets and close-toed shoes mandatory. Email for further questions about experience and equipment. Although this clinic is being offered free of charge, there is a suggested donation of $60 to the CHTC (can be made through DONATE tab). All donations made to CHTC through STF will be eligible for the SRAM match and support trail development in the Keweenaw.

Junior Coach Program

New for 2023, proficient riders age 14 and over can ride along with entry level riders as a junior coach. Junior coaches will typically ride mid-pack and serve as an extra set of eyes for coaches. A great opportunity for riders that enjoy working with kids and are interested in developing coaching skills. Junior Coaches are eligible to receive volunteer credit, as well.
