About this race
The Smelter City Scamper is a locally hosted race that supports food access and community health in Anaconda. Led by the Anaconda Community Market, the Scamper welcomes runners, walkers, families, and longtime locals alike. A hometown race with lots of heart!
Whether you’re lining up for the half marathon, jogging the 5K with friends, or watching kids sprint their hearts out for one block, this race is about showing up, for yourself and for your community.
Race Events:
All races start and finish at Kennedy Commons.
Half Marathon - 7:30am
10K - 8:00am
5K - 8:30am
Kids Sprint (1 block, ages 8 & under – free) - 10:30am
Why We Run
The Smelter City Scamper is a fundraiser that supports the Anaconda Community Market and local food access programs. Proceeds stay in the community, helping strengthen local food systems and the health and wellness of the community.
A Little Extra Fun
The Scamper takes place during Smeltermen’s Day weekend, so make a weekend out of it as there's plenty to do and see around town. Your run ends at Kennedy Commons and rolls straight into the Smeltermen’s Day Brewfest. Good timing, good people, and a solid way to wrap up race morning.

Running
1/2 Marathon
This run will start and end at the Kennedy Commons. Runners will enjoy some of the best views of Anaconda as they run through historic neighborhoods, Washoe Park, and along the "West Valley Loop" that features stunning views of the Pintler Mountains. It is a flat and fast half marathon made for setting PRs. Immediately after the race, a BBQ and Brewfest will be occurring in the Kennedy Commons as a part of the weekend-long Smeltermen's Day Celebration.
10K Run
This run will start and end at the Kennedy Commons. Runners will enjoy some of the best views of Anaconda as they run through historic neighborhoods, Washoe Park, and the Lorry Thomas wildlife area that features stunning views of the Pintler Mountains. It is a flat and fast 10K made for setting PRs. Immediately after the race, a BBQ and Brewfest will be occurring in the Kennedy Commons as a part of the weekend-long Smeltermen's Day Celebration.
5K Run or Walk
This run will start and end at the Kennedy Commons. Runners will enjoy some of the best views of Anaconda as they run through historic neighborhoods and Washoe Park. It is a flat and fast 5K. Immediately after the race, a BBQ and Brewfest will be occurring in the Kennedy Commons as a part of the weekend-long Smeltermen's Day Celebration.
1 Block Sprint
This run will start at Main and 3rd and end at Hickory and 3rd, alongside the Kennedy Common's. It is designed for children ages 2 - 8 and is free to enter. Immediately after the race, a BBQ and Brewfest will be occurring in the Kennedy Commons as a part of the weekend-long Smeltermen's Day Celebration.
