The Spirit of 1775 Midnight Riders is a 250-mile virtual event celebration remembering the riders who, in April of 1775 and beyond, set forth on horseback to sound the alarm that invasion had begun.

This event will be a way to honor those midnight riders from 1775 and the courage it took to saddle up.  As you log your miles in our online journal you will unlock milestones along your journey. 

What a time to be alive, when the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary. It seemed fitting to set up a summer event that celebrates not just the 250th anniversary of independence, but one that honors the horses and the riders who pushed through the night the year before in 1775 to saddle up and to sound the alarm.

How Virtual Events Work

Our virtual events allow you to participate in your own way by choosing your preferred method of movement. All miles must be earned through muscle power—no mechanical assistance is permitted.  You have as long as needed to reach your 250 miles.

Participation Methods

• Walking 
• Riding 
• Walking with horse
• Walking with Dog
• Running
• Driving 
• Ground Driving 

Important Rules

All miles must be earned through muscle power only. Mechanical assistance is not permitted. This means no electric bikes or motorized equipment—your effort powers your progress. Shipping of your awards packet within the USA is included in your entry cost.  However,  if you are joining from outside of the USA, you will need to request an invoice for shipping to your country.

Everyone who registers for the Spirit of 1775 – Midnight Riders 250 Mile Challenge between July 4, 2026 and July 24, 2026 will automatically be entered into the drawing. No additional entry is required—your official challenge bib number will serve as your giveaway entry. After registration closes on July 24, one bib number will be randomly selected as the winner.

Shipping is included for winners within the United States. If the selected winner resides outside the U.S., they are welcome to receive the prize by paying the actual cost of international shipping.
