BIKE VIRGINIA’s upcoming adventure: the Sunshine and Spokes Getaway 2026!

SHEPHERDSTOWN, BOONSBORO, HARPERS FERRY and SHARPSBURG

Join us for a weekend of beautiful backroads, scenic river views, fascinating history, and fantastic riding as we explore the historic borders of West Virginia and Maryland. We've designed this getaway weekend with your enjoyment and ease in mind. All our routes are Ride w/ GPS and SAG supported, with plenty of cool stops to recharge along the way!

 FRIDAY, JUNE 26 
ARRIVE & WARM UP
Ease into the weekend with our late afternoon, early evening registration/checkin.

  • “Looking to stretch your legs after checking in? Hop on our Friday route to tour the host town of Shepherdstown. This short route is a great way to check out our wonderful host town and make sure the bike is working well before the weekend of riding begins.”


 SATURDAY, JUNE 27 
HISTORY, VINES, & VALLEY ROADS
Saturday offers an incredible mix of scenic backroads and rich history, all fully supported with Ride w/ GPS and SAG routes. Highlights include:

  • Exploring Shepherdstown, 2026 USA Today Nominee for Best Historic Small Towns in the U.S.
  • Visiting Shepherd University’s agricultural innovation center, Tabler Farm
  • Riding to Historic Boonsboro, home of author Nora Roberts, several fascinating museums, and the beautiful Antietam Creek Vineyards
  • A unique architecture tour through the Sharpsburg Historic District, featuring stone and brick homes in Georgian, Federal, Greek Revival, and Colonial Revival styles
  • We will top off the day with a post-ride reception at the Entler Hotel in Shepherdstown, featuring an insightful talk on
    Innovations in AI and Medicine and What Patients Should Know

 SUNDAY, JUNE 28 
HARPERS FERRY & SCENIC RIVERS
We wrap up the weekend with stunning views and iconic landmarks, including:

  • Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, where you can take in the confluence views of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.
  • Exploring Harpers Ferry Lower Town, packed with preserved 19th-century buildings, the old armory, and the arsenal.
  • Riding to Bolivar Heights Battlefield.
  • A very special stop at True Treats Historic Candy with a chance to meet Susan Benjamin, the U.S. Candy Historian.
