About this race
Join us on the Easley-Pickens Doodle Trail for a fun fall race series! The start and finish line will be in the amphitheater of Southern Weaving.
Named after the historic shortline railroad that ran from Pickens to Easley, we'll have our inaugural Doodle Bug 5k! Looking for a longer railway? Sign up for the Doodle Trail Half Marathon. After these two events, the kiddos will venture out and back for the Little Engine that Could 1 Mile Fun Run! Bring the whole family, and join us afterwards at Southern Weaving for a day full of fun for everyone. There will be bounce house, face paint, and more! The day will start with the race series and go right into a Fall Vendor Market, full of local vendors from the Upstate.
Packet Pickup:
The night before the race, on Friday, October 8th, swing by Southern Weaving from 5-7 to pick up your race packet, bib, and enjoy the amazing food that Southern Weaving has to offer. Bring the whole family and enjoy your pre-race night carb loading with your fellow runners out on the lawn. Additionally there will be local companies from around the Upstate with booths where you can purchase some of your favorite running gear.
All participants will receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal
1 mile fun run:
Top 3 get engraved train whistle
5k and Half marathon:
Top 3 in each race get an engraved railroad spike
Medals and awards are provided by Hickory Handcrafted, located right here in Easley, SC. For only $10, Matt can add a custom engraving to your medal such as "5k PR 21:05", "Jack's first 1/2 marathon", or "I love running!" Add up to 3 lines of text. Just visit his table after the race to add even more to this meaningful day.

The Little Engine that Could 1 Mile Fun Run
ALL ABOARD! Secure your velcro straps and get ready for the 1st annual “The Little Engine that Could 1 mile Fun Run” on the Pickens County Doodle Trail. Enjoy a fast paced out and back mile as you race for the coveted train whistle award. After the race enjoy some sweet treats at Southern Weaving’s Ice Cream Factory and get the rest of your energy out at the Easley Kids Play & Cafe.
The Doodle Bug 5k
NEXT STOP…THE FINISH LINE! Be the first to toe the line of the Doodle Bug 5k, taking place on the beautiful Doodle Trail. Beginning and ending at Southern Weaving, this out and back will have you chugging along as you race towards your next PR! There will be an aid station at the 1.55 mile turn around with water and electrolytes.
The Doodle Trail Half Marathon
FULL STEAM AHEAD! Prepare for an astounding half marathon on the gentle rolling hills of the Doodle Trail. From Southern Weaving, you'll run 6.55 miles down the trail, running towards the Pickens side. There will be aid stations with water, electrolytes, snacks and gels at mile 1.55, 3.0, 6.55, 10, and 11.6.
