About this race
The Macklind Mile Story:
The Macklind Mile is more than just getting outside…you can run fast or stroll slow…you can race to compete or move to complete. There will be music, food and activities following the short one mile course which makes it perfect for hanging out in the streets of South City St Louis with other kids and kids-at-heart. If this is your first time at the Macklind Mile, know this: it’s a one mile distance that everyone can do regardless of running or walking, and the post-race party is just as important as the distance covered! You can come to run the downhill, one mile course to try and set a personal record, or you can walk it with your family pet – but either way you’re partying at the finish line!
In 2026, the Macklind Mile will play host to the RRCA 1 Mile National Championships! We look forward to continuing to host their great events.

Men's Competitive Mile - Virtual
Looking to set a PR? Then this race is for you. With timing provided by Chronotrack chip technology, you’ll be competing against yourself, your age group and your gender. Lace up!
Women's Competitive Mile - Virtual
Looking to set a PR? Then this race is for you. With timing provided by Chronotrack chip technology, you’ll be competing against yourself, your age group and your gender. Lace up!
Recreational Mile - Virtual
This event is for those wanting to push the stroller or just have some casual fun. There are no awards and no pressure in this event, just good ‘ol fashioned fun! Nonetheless, even this wave features Chronotrack chip timing.
Dog Mile - Virtual
For years, dogs have been welcome to take part in our recreational wave, and now our furry friends have a race all their own! Sign you and your pooch up for the Macklind Dog Mile and prove who has the fastest four legs in town!
Elite Mile
Men who have run a 4:30 mile or faster and women who have run a 5:30 mile or faster within the last year will be eligible. To be considered, you must register for the competitive wave for your gender and then email info@macklindmile.com with your request for consideration.
Kid's Quarter Mile Dash (Untimed) - Virtual
The Kids’ quarter mile dash, a fan favorite, continues on! The race will begin near the intersection of Winona and Macklind. All finishers will receive a ribbon. We have youth shirt sizes to accommodate all of our younger participants.
The Macklind Marathon - Virtual
Challenge yourself to complete 26.2 miles over 26 days! One mile at a time, or 26.2 all at once. It's up to you, just get your steps in!
