The Navy Yard 5K (and 1 Miler)

The Navy Yard 5K is a community-minded event, connecting runners, tenants, and organizations through fitness and fun. Involvement presents an ideal opportunity to raise awareness of your business or organization and to support the Navy Yard community.  It also provides a great team-building event for your organization as teammates can run, volunteer, or just cheer alongside their co-workers! 

This unique event will take place at lunchtime on Central Green at the Navy Yard. Whether you participate as a runner, walker, course volunteer, or as a spectator, we hope to see you there!  Beginning at 11:30, everyone is encouraged to visit the Health + Wellness Expo in Central Green, featuring Navy Yard tenants and other companies educating employees on all aspects of workplace health, wellness, nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle.  We are also partnering with WMMR on their Camp Out for Hunger campaign for Philabundance and are excited to welcome Preston Elliot and Steve Morrison from WMMR’s Preston & Steve Show to the Navy Yard!

This year, we will once again be offering a 5K and 1 Miler.  The event remains free for both and all participants will get Navy Yard 5K-branded swag.  It is all about fun and camaraderie! 

After the race, we’ll celebrate with awards, music, and refreshments!  And don't forget to bring your lunch money for that week's food trucks to fuel your post-race party.  

A few other things to note:

• The course is not officially measured so may not be an exact 5K (or mile)
• All registrants will be asked to join a team representing their corporate group.  If you don't see your team name listed, feel free to add it! This will allow your co-workers to join your company's team and help us keep track of all teams attending. There will be a special prize for the largest corporate team so spread the word!
• Bag check will also be available during the run so you can keep any items you might need post-race closeby.
