Back again for the 2026 edition, the Juneteenth Half Marathon & 10K takes us along the entirety of the storied Civil War Defenses of Washington Trail (Trail Map PDF). this 'proper' trail run (i.e. dirt + elevation ;-) has two distance options:

  • Half Marathon (out and back; 1,375ft elevation gain) - Strava Route Map
  • 10K (one-way, northbound; 467ft elevation gain) - Strava Route Map

The Seventh Annual Outing of the World-Famous JUNETEENTH HALF MARATHON & 10K...the WORLD'S GREATEST URBAN TRAIL RUN!! The Juneteenth Half Marathon & 10K takes us along arguably the most slept on trail in the District: The Civil War Defenses of Washington Trail. Both the 10K and half marathon run routes cover the entirety of the trail--the 10K route being 'point-to-point' (i.e. one-way from end to end; northbound) while the half marathon route is an 'out and back' route clocking 1,375ft of elevation gain (yes, a quarter-mile elevation gain ;-). Start & Finish & Post-Run Juneteenth Celebration BBQ @ Fort Stanton Park (1820 Erie Street SE, Washington, DC). MEET @ Sunrise (~5:00am) PRE-RUN STRETCH @ 6:00am RUN START @ 6:19am POST-RUN JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION BBQ until ~3:00pm
