About this race
Turkey Trot for the Twig returns in 2026 on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and it is still all about the Kids!! The event is to benefit children in the foster care system and the programs of The Twig Cares.
The Turkey Trot for the Twig has sold out for four years running so don't wait too long to register.
A great morning event with something for everyone! Chip-timed 5K with awards suitable for all ages and all levels. And a great post-race celebration.
Your 5K race swag includes:
- Custom Twig Turkey Trot finisher medal for ALL 5K finishers!
- Custom Race Bib
- Custom Short-Sleeve Race Shirt. Or upgrade and choose a long-sleeve or ladies' tank style shirt for just $5 more. (Subject to availability , style and color may change)
Shirt deadline: October 1st. After this date, shirts or sizes are not guaranteed.
Packet Pickup will be at The Twig (826 Pinebrook Rd. Venice, FL 34285) on the Thursday before the race from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
***Upon completion of the run any shirts not picked up will be available to trade***
No medals will be saved post race. If packets /shirts/medals are not picked up you will be forfeiting them.

Running
5K
A chip timed 5K race suitable for the entire family with lots of course support from Team Twig race staff. Your registration includes the custom race shirt by Gulf Breeze Apparel and ALL 5K finishers will get a very cute custom finishers medal. Awards for the first male & female overall, youth overall (14 & under), masters, grandmasters, senior grandmasters and veteran grandmasters and 3-deep in age groups 8 & under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, then 5-year age groups to 80 & over.
One Mile
We call it a fun "run" but you can run, jog, walk, skip, however you want to finish one mile. No timing, no medals, the one-mile is just for the fun of it and to support the Twig! During registration you can add a shirt for an additional fee.
Virtual 5K
If you can't be with us in person but we still want you to be a part of the Turkey Trot for the Twig, do your 5K virtually, you pick the time that fits your schedule during the Virtual 5K window, your choice of course, and you have the opportunity to log your results on RunSignUp for bragging rights. Your Virtual Turkey Trot for the Twig registration fee includes shipping your race shirt and finisher medal to the US address provided during registration. Your Virtual 5K does include a finisher's medal and custom race shirt. Additional fee for shipping will be applied during registration.
