Take a breath. Revel in the moment. From first timers to veterans, this is an exciting undertaking. Don't add to it by overthinking things. We got your back and will get you where you need to go. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BRING ANY PAPERS, ID, SECRET CODES, GIFT OF THE MAGI TO GET ON THE BUS. ITS NOT THE PENTAGON OR THE SKULL AND BONES SOCIETY. IT'S A BUS. TO A RACE. WE ASK YOUR NAME. IF IT'S ON THE LIST, WE LET YOU ON. IF YOU ARE SO LOWBROW THAT YOU ARE GOING TO TRY AND SNEAK ON THE BUS, THEN ENJOY BEING A JERK. There are three separate pick up points. You do not have to specify which spot you are choosing, just be there on time. The three departure points are: 5:30 am at Westchester Road Runner. 179 East Post Road White Plains, NY 10601 This spot is the only one that you are allowed to leave your car parked. This is new from previous years. Unfortunately, this means that if you have to park and leave a car, you have to pay to for a spot in the Lyons Place parking garage located by the store for the day. 5:45 am at the Doubletree Hotel 455 South Broadway Tarrytown, NY 10591 Parking is not allowed here. You must be dropped off. 6:00 am at the Burger King, 826 Central Park Avenue Yonkers, NY 10704 (Southbound service road of I-87/ opposite the Cross County Shopping Center) Parking is not allowed here. You must be dropped off. We will drop you off as close to the start as we are allowed by the NYRR and the NYPD. We do not have control over this at all!!! You may have to walk a bit, but so will the other 49,999 humans partaking this journey of the marathon along with you. There's a lot of people trying to get to the same place. Barring something insane and unforeseen, like aliens, earthquakes, wormholes to other dimensions or any other wackiness that makes us all go "what the hell was that?", you will be there with plenty of time. Even the first wave people. (Anyone on last years buses saw the magic happen when tracksuit clad, Staten Island Guy appeared like an angel and guided us through some tight neighborhood streets. We have connections everywhere) For those that insist about a time, if we could predict that, we probably wouldn't be selling running shoes and arranging bus trips for anxious, intense marathoners. Typically, we start the exodus off the bus around 7:45-8:00 AM. More then enough time to get to the Fort and relax before the cannon booms. Again, have you seen how many people run this thing? There's a lot of people with the same idea as you. There is a bathroom on the bus. Use it sparingly. It is not your home and others may have to utilize it. We are offering a bag check to anyone purchasing a ticket for the bus. We are allowing ONE bag per passenger. We request that you put a tag with your name and phone number on it for identification. There will be no access to the bags after you leave the bus. Once you enter the Fort, that’s it. You’ve committed. We request that you do not bring anything of value. The bags will be on a bus, however we will not be responsible for the bags or the contents. We will do our best to safeguard them. The bags will be available by 5pm at the meeting point for the bus. Any bags not picked up will be available at Westchester Road Runner, 179 East Post Road, White Plains, starting Monday, Nov. 7th. The bags will be held for one week. Then screw it. You probably don’t remember what you left anyway. There will be ONE bus returning from the city at 5 PM. That is it. It cannot leave early or wait beyond that. Please do not try to coerce, bribe or seduce the driver. (Where in the city will be determined on the morning of the marathon due to the fact that NYRR can dictate where buses can park.) The plan as of now, is that we will find a spot somewhere between W. 77th St. and W. 81st St. between Columbus Ave and CPW. Those are the NYRR designated areas. Yes, we realize that it is a big area but that is all we are given by NYRR. So before panic sets in, here's what we do. You will recieve a text that morning where the bus is parked. You can also look for a gentlemen (Andy, the store owner. He will be there around 4PM) to be hopefully standing around 77th and Central Park West with a sign to guide you to where the bus is sleeping. (This is hoping he's allowed in the area. If you reach that point, and find neither a regular sized gentleman nor a large sized bus, then you can call him at 914-882-5311) That bus will then take anyone on it to the stopoff spots in reverse order, ending back at the store. Once that happens, the day is over as far as we are concerned. The bus is usually available for runners around 3-4pm It will stop at each of the departure spots in reverse order. It is free for family members to join on the way back if they'd like, provided there is space (there usually is plenty). Other then that, just have as much fun as possible. Months of hard work come to fruition on this day. Don't focus on what could go wrong, look at what is going right and good. Then when obstacles arise, you think "how can I overcome this?" and not "I can't do this."
